Forest Walks

The main Forest Service holdings within the Borough are Slieveanorra Forest, Garry Wood and Craigs Wood. While none of these forests have designated way marked walking routes, walkers are welcome to explore these areas using the forest roads. Keep your eyes peeled here because there are deer, badger, fox and stoat about.

At Breen Forest there is a self-guided way marked trail requiring sturdy waterproof boots.  The route consists of open hillside, marshy upland and forest trackes with fine views. The trail is located within the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is accessed by the Altarichard car park situated on the scenic route between Magherahoney and Cushendall/Cushendun

Also accessed from the Altarichard car park is another self guided way marked trail. "The Millibern" is a three mile walk which consists of open hill side, marshy tracks and upland hills.
