The official tourism website for Ballymoney, Co. Antrim
An exhibition of paintings by Maurice Orr Originally from Ballymena, artist Maurice Orr now resides in Ballymoney. This exhibition of paintings which was commissioned as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, was inspired by the unique landscape of Iceland mirrored by the North Antrim Coast. Maurice uses other senses, not just sight, to evoke atmosphere and has looked for ways to make his work more sensory through the use of music and touch.
“The coast, fish leather and oil painting are central to this exhibition. It is one for the senses. It has been a process that has pushed my abilities to the best I could achieve and on a scale like never before. I hope it brings forward an understanding of visual art through many senses, and a deeper understanding of disability access for all audiences.” Maurice Orr
Admission to all exhibitions is free. Opening hours: Monday – Thursday & Saturday 9am-5pm & Friday 9am-4.30pm.
