Joey's Helmet

What is it?
This helmet was worn by Joey Dunlop.  

Who was he?
Joey Dunlop’s career as a motorcyclist is unrivalled. He inspired loyalty from a legion of fans spread all over the world.

Joey amassed a staggering 26 TT race wins at the Isle of Man and 13 at the North West 200, in addition to five World Championships and over 160 other race victories.

Why is it famous?
Joey’s yellow helmet is instantly recognisable by motorcycle fans across the world. It represents a man who became a legend and whose achievements will never be surpassed.

He adopted the famous yellow helmet not long after he began racing in 1969. He continued to wear it throughout his career because of his superstitious beliefs.

In tribute to Joey, Arai have produced a successful range of replica Joey Dunlop helmets. Profits from the sales of the replicas are donated to the Joey Dunlop Foundation, a charity in the Isle of Man.
